Can we talk? Can I over-share for a moment? The truth is, we are all more stressed-out than usual. We are all dealing with more worries than we’re used to. We were just getting back to some semblance of a normal life and the Delta variant knocked us backwards. We were preparing for our kids to finally be in school in person, we were exercising inside, we were starting to go to movies again, and then we were hit with the indoor mask mandate and renewed social distancing requirements. So, we are all a little on edge. And I understand it. I feel it myself. BUT … that’s no excuse to be rude. That’s no excuse to check your civility at the door. That’s no excuse to be a jerk. I’m seeing it over and over again: parents yelling at teachers and passengers harassing flight attendants and customers of all sorts screaming at front-line workers. If we’ve learned anything at all from this past 18 months it’s that we are all in this together, so let’s act like it. Be kinder to each other. Be more empathetic. Be more helpful. Be more patient. Be nicer. At the end of the day, just be a mensch.
